Video Isolating initial sounds is a critical beginning phonological skill. Watch this video with your child and help them isolate the initial sound. Make sure they follow along with the movements and make this a multisensory activity. ***Challenge: Take a walk through your house, your yard, or while driving in the car, play a game where you call out an item you see and your child tells you the initial sound. Another variation can also be that you say, it begins with (insert sound) and have your child guess. Take turns so your child has a chance to isolate the initial sound of an object they find!
